LLLC Work in Progress Working Group

LLLC Work in progress Working Group presentations will take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month in 318 Phillips Hall from 3:30-5pm.These workshops will feature writing by WIP group members, which will be circulated beforehand by the author/translator/scholar.

French professor Roxanna Curto creates simulated European travel course with Global Curriculum Development Award

Roxanna Curto, an associate professor of French and Spanish at the University of Iowa , has transformed her classroom into a gateway to French-speaking Europe. With support from the International Programs’ Global Curriculum Development Award, Curto traveled abroad in summer 2025 to design a course that immerses students as “imaginary tourists” in French-speaking countries. ASL Immersion Weekend Registration Open!

The University of Iowa ASL Program will be hosting the first annual "ASL Immersion Weekend!" It will be held at Camp Wapsie from Friday, April 17th to Sunday, April 19th, 2026. At the event, attendees will be able to interact with Deaf Mentors, attend workshops and presentations, and get to know people in the Deaf community! Anne Frank Initiative, directed by German faculty Kirsten Kumpf Baele, worked to establish student-designed Little Free Library at the Children's Hospital

A student-designed Little Free Library, inspired by Anne Frank’s life and legacy, found a permanent home in the Janice and Bruce Ellig Children’s Library at the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital on August 19, 2025, thanks to a collaborative effort between the Anne Frank Initiative (AFI), Iowa Youth Writing Project, and Clear Creek Amana Middle School.
