University of Iowa international studies alumna Holly Harris (Fall 2021) has been awarded a 2022-23 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Award to be an English teaching assistant at a university in Brazil.

Students in Dr. Peter Gerlach's course IS:3012 (Community Engaged Learning with Refugees and Immigrants in Iowa) partnered with local nonprofits to host a community donation drive on May 11th, 2022. The drive provided gently used clothing and household items to support local immigrant and refugee populations.

Sarah Fagan (co-authors: Carolyn Whitehead, Jeffery Davis, Mary Johnson) presented "Moving forward: The development of a discourse marker" at Studies in the History of the English Language (SHEL-12), University of Washington, May 19, 2022.

Thomas Mira y Lopez will be travling to Brazil for his project Translating Jose J. Veiga's Little Horses of Platiplanto.

Hilary Bell will be traveling to Italy for her project Friulian Dialect and The Madre Lingua in Translation.

Eirill Falck will be traveling to Norway for her project in Researching and Translating Edvard Munch’s Literary Manuscripts.
